Figure 2.
Immunofluorescence assay (IFA) staining of bursa of Fabricius sections stained with antibodies against infectious bursal disease virus (IBDV) (A,B) or IgM (C,D) from specific pathogen free (SPF) chickens vaccinated with immune complex IBD vaccine (IBDV-Icx). At day 10 post vaccination (PV), the IBDV antigen was not detectable (A) and the bursa tissue showed normal follicular structure (C). By day 14 PV, IBDV-specific antigens were indicative of IBDV replication (B) together with destroyed follicular structure, lymphocyte depletion, and inflammatory signs in the interfollicular tissue (D). Arrows show IBDV-specific antigens (B) and lymphocyte depletion (D). Magnification: 200×.
