Cytokine secretion profiles. C57BL/6 mice were given either vehicle (PBS) or native or PEGylated viruses at a dose of 5 × 10¹⁰ particles/ml intratracheally. Splenocytes harvested 10 days after administration were cultured in the presence or absence of inactivated, unmodified adenovirus for 48 h. Culture supernatants were analyzed for IL-2, IFN-γ, IL-4, and IL-10 by ELISA. Values are averages ± standard deviations for duplicate culture supernatants from spleens of six animals treated in two separate experiments.
