BSE–cross-sectional micrograph of YAS-coated alumina and it reveals a dense microstructure. Strong adhesion between the coating layer and the pristine alumina, without cracks, can be seen at the interface. Analyses revealed major peaks corresponding to YAG phase and minor peaks corresponding to Y2Si2O7 phase. These phase categories are identical to those observed in the YAS glass frit and coating layers.
