The frameshift transplant mutants reverse transcribe Ty1-neo mRNA. Total yeast nucleic acids from strain YH51 were digested with EcoRI, treated with RNase A, and separated on a 1% agarose gel. This gel was probed with ³²P-labeled DNA generated from an XhoI-HindIII fragment of the Tn903 neo gene via random hexamer labeling. The lane background results from Ty1-neo insertions into yeast genomic DNA. WT, wild type.
