Approach to GIST management recommendation: We strongly advocate early referral of patients to specialized high-volume sarcoma centres to optimize their access to treatment options and improve outcomes. In cases where there are geographical factors that preclude regular follow-up at specialized centres, engagement of local oncologists with relevant specialist centres should be encouraged so that the benefits of available systemic treatments can be optimized, and one-off strategies such as surgery or ablation may still be considered.
