γH2AX and 53BP1 foci were quantified as a function of time in NCI-H460 (A–H) and NCI-H1299 (I–P) at 2, 4, and 18 hours after irradiation with 4 Gy of 6 MV x-rays (photons) or 9.9 keV/μm protons. At least 3 independent repeats were performed. Error bars represent the SD. Statistical significance was assessed with 2-way ANOVA with Tukey’s multiple-comparison test.
