Figure 7. The Subgenual Anterior Cingulate (sgACC) has Minimal Correlations with the Ventral Striatum (VS) in S1.

Figure 7.

The VS is adjacent to the MPFC including the sgACC. As a control analysis, the correlations from an sgACC seed region (indicated with a white circle) were visualized to examine whether the correlation pattern extended into the VS (which is observed in group-averaged data) in S1. The sgACC seed region is strongly correlated with the full cortical extent of Default Network-A (DN-A), including regions in DLPFC (middle and right). Critically, the correlation pattern from sgACC minimally crosses the striatal boundary into the ventral portion of the VS (left). Cortical results are visualized on the inclated fsaverage6 surface with the lateral view slightly tilted to show the dorsal surface. Striatal results are visualized on each individual’s own T1-weighted anatomical image transformed to the atlas space of the MNI atlas. L = left. Coordinates in the bottom right of the left panels indicate the y coordinates (in mm). Black outlines in the volume indicate the boundaries of the striatum and outlines on the cortical surface indicate DN-A (see methods). All correlation values are plotted after r to z conversion using the jet colorscale shown by the legend.
