Ferroptosis in cardiovascular diseases. In the circulatory system, iron overload, lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress associated with ferroptosis can gradually induce coronary atherosclerotic heart disease and myocardial infarction (a), dilated cardiomyopathy (b), hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (c), and inflammatory infiltration of myocardium (d).
