Figure 1.

A composite image with 5 components, showing the 5 coordinated views of MS Pattern Explorer.

The MS Pattern Explorer interface. Experts identify activity time series in the Temporal Overview (A) for a selected sensor and specific PwMS, at multiple temporal granularity levels. To explore available activity patterns of interest, experts can cluster sequences by their similarity in the Pattern Explorer View (B), and discovered patterns of interest can be contextualized through explanatory metadata visualizations. Data, model, and visualization parameters can be adjusted with the Configuration Panel (C). Provenance information on previous analysis configurations is tracked in the History View (D). Users can search for similar, user-specified activity sequences in the Similar Pattern View (E). To enable comparative between-PwMS analyses, MS Pattern Explorer automatically scales the visual encodings to accommodate for multiple PwMS.
