Pinning-force fitting versus critical-current fitting. (a) Fitting the minimum dataset in terms of the critical current results in considerable errors between the extrapolated curves and the measured data points. (b) Fitting in terms of the pinning force (FP=IcB) reduces extrapolation error at individual data points to as little as 1/5th the size, particularly at higher strains and temperatures. The large improvement given by FP fitting was consistently observed for all test cases where high extrapolation accuracy was observed.
