This imbalance (dysbiosis) leads to "leaky gut syndrome," allowing toxins into the bloodstream and triggering inflammation through the NF-κB pathway. The resulting systemic inflammation can worsen IBD and cause glucose intolerance, further contributing to IBD pathology.
