HIV-1-infected astrocytes produce infectious progeny virus. Astrocytes were infected with VSV/NL4-3 or MLV/NL4-3 as described in the text, and culture supernatants were collected 14 and 21 days after infection, filtered through 0.45-μm-pore-size filters, and tested for the presence of infectious virus in the MAGI assay.
