Table 3.

Antimicrobial activity of compounds 2, 4, and 8. Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) and minimal bactericidal concentrations (MBCs) were determined according to the clinical and laboratory standards Institute (CLSI) guidelines M7-A09. * and ** indicate that a bactericidal or a bacteriostatic mode of action was highlighted, respectively. (−) indicates that no activity was visualized at the highest concentration (250 µM). The MIC values of erythromycin, used as a control, for Listeria monocytogenes, Enterococcus faecalis, and Bacillus cereus were 1.36 μM, 5.44 μM, and 5.45 μM, respectively.

MBC/MIC (µM)
Compound 2 4 8 Erythromycin
L. monocytogenes SOR 100 125* 125 * 31.25 ** 1.36
E. faecalis CIP A 186 (−) (−) 31.25 * 5.44
B. cereus ATCC 6464 (−) (−) 7.8 ** 5.45
