Overview of vaccination and challenge experiment. Piglets were divided into three groups of 6 animals each. Groups 1 and 2 were vaccinated IM with 10² HAD50 Arm-ΔPolX or Arm-ΔPolX-ΔMGF, with group 3 serving as unvaccinated controls. After 28 days, the surviving vaccinated animals and controls were challenged IM with 10² HAD50 Arm/07/CBM/c2. Necropsies were performed at the time of animal death or were scheduled for 14 days post-challenge for any animals surviving the challenge. Scheduled blood collections were performed on days listed in red.
