Zta(m22/26,74/75) and Zta(Δ24–86) fail to associate with replication compartments. An immunofluorescence assay was performed on D98-HR1 cells transfected with expression vectors for wild-type or mutant Zta. Cells were stained for BMRF1 using anti-BMRF1 monoclonal antibody and for Zta using rabbit anti-Zta antiserum. Wild-type Zta colocalized with the replication compartments, whereas the two Zta mutants were excluded from these bodies. Merge, overlays of the FITC and rhodamine images.
