Capsid proteins with heterologous SPs do not colocalize with E1 in the juxtanuclear region. COS cells were transfected with expression vectors that encode CapE2SP, CapGSP, or CapCD8SP and E2E1 (A through L). Panels M through O show cells transfected with CapE2SP only. Cells were fixed, permeabilized with methanol, and double labeled with rabbit anti-capsid (A, D, G, J, and M) and mouse anti-E1 (B, E, H, K, and N) antibodies and then examined by confocal microscopy.
