Inclusion and exclusion eligibility criteria for planned discharge on day of surgery.

Inclusion criteria
Unilateral elective primary THA, TKA, or UKA
Aged 18 to 80 years
Exclusion criteria
Acute myocardial infarction, cerebrovascular accident, transient ischaemic attack, or coronary atherosclerotic disease within last 3 months
Unstable ischaemic heart disease
Ejection fraction < 40%
Glomerular filtration rate < 60 ml/min/1.73 m2
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with home oxygen
Insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus
Sleep apnoea requiring mechanical treatment
Clinical Frailty Scale ≥ 4
Two or more falls within last 3 months
BMI < 18.5 kg/m2 or > 40 kg/m2
Not interested in discharge on day of surgery
No adult present at home during the initial postoperative night*
