At time of euthanasia, lungs were collected in formalin and sections were stained using hematoxylin and eosin (a) and immunohistochemistry using an anti-NiV N antibody was performed (b). Open symbols represent animals that survived until the end of the experiment; closed symbols represent animals that reached euthanasia criteria.
