*Strains of C. difficile were obtained from Bioresource Collection and Research Center, Food Industry Research and Development Institute, Hsinchu, Taiwan, because the gut microbiota of Patient 1 did not contain C. difficile.

#The antibiotics were tested in the dose ranging from 0.02 to 2.50 μg/mL (for bacterial growth in broth) and 0.02 to 2.00 μg/mL (for bacterial growth on agar).
