Increased acetylcholine induction by CBD inhalation in Alzheimer’s disease. CBD inhalation over a period of seven months (with dosing every other day) enhanced ACh expression in 5xFAD mice. (a) Immunohistochemical analysis on brain tissue from 5xFAD mice showed that long-term inhalation of CBD (seven months) increased ACh expression (red arrows) in 5xFAD mice with AD compared to placebo-treated mice. (b) Demonstration of ACh expression level in brain tissues using ImageJ software (version 1.53e) and (c) Quantification of ACh expression showing significant differences between ACh expression in brain tissue from AD mice treated with inhaled CBD versus placebo-treated mice.
