Model comparison

The top row shows the coarse model (32x32 elements) and the bottom row the fine model (64x64 elements) – The 2 and 4 fringes’ elements in either side (coarse and fine models respectively) are not accounted for. Left and right columns display the averaging method (arithmetic averaging and kriging, respectively). The color map represents the hydraulic aperture, the white vectors the fluid velocity and the pink arrows the streamlines. The models are blanked where the fracture is deemed in contact across the two faces. White vectors represent the fluid flow velocity. The coarse models have different vector magnitude scales whereas the fine models are in scale.
