The pks genomic island contains 19 genes (clbA to clbS) encoding polyketide synthases (PKS, orange), nonribosomal peptide synthases (NRPS red), hybrid PKS-NRPS (orange/red) and genes with unknown function (black). Other “accessory” enzymes and proteins are encoded by clbA (phosphopantetheinyl transferase), clbM (efflux pump), clbP (peptidase) and clbS (resistance protein).
