Retinal information is directly projected to the superficial layers of the superior colliculus (SCs) and transferred to the intermediate layers (SCi) that are involved in limb and oculomotor control (green). Retinal information also travels through the thalamus to the visual cortex and higher cortical areas. The parietal reach region (PRR) and the lateral intraparietal area (LIP) may drive signals to generate limb and eye responses in parallel.
