Effect of BD on mitochondrial respiration and the overall activity of reactions involved in the oxidation of substrates. To detect mitochondrial respiration, mitochondria were energized with either G3P (A) or succinate (B). Respiration was evaluated in the absence or the presence of GDP (2 mM). UCP1‐dependent respiration was obtained by subtracting GDP‐inhibited respiration from basal respiration. Values represent the mean ± SEM of 7–8 different rats.
