Note that because both methods used identical synthetic data, they result in similar classification performance of underlying ocean parameters. As illustrated in figure 7, the $3\sigma$ spread of noise is $0.05$ in the synodic complex space for inversion and ${\displaystyle 6\mathrm{n}\mathrm{T}}$ in the PCA space, respectively. These error regions correspond to identifying the ocean thickness to within ${\displaystyle 35-85\mathrm{k}\mathrm{m}}$ and conductivity within ${\displaystyle 2-9\mathrm{S}/\mathrm{m}}$.
