^[a]Compound cytotoxicity was tested against THP‐1 human macrophages utilising MTT cell viability assay. Confluent transformed THP‐1 cells (1x10⁵) were treated with compound dilutions in a 96 well micro titre plate made up in complete RPMI‐1640 medium with 10‐point 2‐fold dilutions for 24 h. Compounds were then washed off and after adding fresh media, 10 μL of 5 mg/mL solution of MTT was added and further incubated for 4 h. MTT was then dissolved in DMSO and read in a micro titre plate reader at 570 nm. IC₅₀ values were determined in biological triplicates. The errors are reported as standard error of the mean.
