Parameter	Interpretation
$\eta$	Rate of activation of each hypnozoite (the inverse is the expected duration of hypnozoite carriage)
$\nu$	Mean size of successful sporozoite inoculum (i.e. number of sporozoites that undergo immediate development or form a viable hypnozoite that is destined to activate)
$p_{\text{rel}}$	Probability that a successful sporozoite becomes a hypnozoite that will subsequently activate ($1-p_{\text{rel}}$ undergo immediate development)
$\lambda (t)$	Force of inoculation (i.e. infective anopheline vector bite rate per human) at time $t$
