Persistent sodium currents in proprioceptors. Cells were subjected to a ramp protocol elevating the membrane potential from -70 mV to + 30 mV at the rate of 2.5 mV/s. As shown, persistent sodium currents (peaked at -20 mV) were observed, which were inhibited by the application of 1 μM tetrodotoxin (blue trace). Data obtained from n = 11 proprioceptive DRG neurons. External solution contains 10 mM TEA and 1 mM 4-AP to obtain maximum density of INaP. * p < 0.05, ** p < 0.01, *** p < 0.001 determined by using multiple unpaired t-test.
