Alignment of MSP-8 protein sequences from several human, primate, and rodent Plasmodium species. All MSP-8 proteins encode an N-terminal secretion signal that is between 22 and 25 amino acids long (underlined with dashes), a C-terminal double EGF-like domain (underlined), and a C-terminal GPI anchor attachment sequence. All protein sequences were aligned following the removal of an N-terminal asparagine-rich repeat region of variable length (indicated by the solid triangle).
