Summary of post mortem results. (a) Shows damage-pattern maps that indicate much less conductor damage to LBC4 than to LBC2 and LBC3 conductors. (b) YateStar scans of outer 10 turns in selected SP of LBC4. Marginal wavy plastic damage was observed in the ten outer turns of SP1 and SP2 but none in SP3–5. Significant correlated plastic kinking was observed in SP6 and SP7 that initiated at a step discontinuity in the inner winding joint: this was not a result of screening current overstress. The scan of SP8–12 showed no signs of wavy damage that could cause local Inline graphic drops.
