Germlings that had two or more nuclei after the HU incubation were scored as germlings that did not have mitosis arrest. All results are the averages of determinations from three independent experiments, with 100 germlings being evaluated in each. The results are expressed as means ± standard deviations. Statistical differences were determined by one-way ANOVA followed, when significant by the Newman-Keuls multiple comparison test, using Sigma Stat statistical software (Jandel Scientifics). P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.

b

Significantly different from all other treatments (P < 0.05).
