Maximum-likelihood phylogeny of 12 isolates from six plant hosts of Xylella fastidiosa. The branch lengths are proportional to their estimated substitution rates (nonsynonymous plus synonymous). The divergence times were estimated from the synonymous component of these rates of evolution, so that time is only weakly correlated to branch length. The divergence times reported are the average values for that branch from Tukey's jackknife analysis. The standard errors are reported after the divergence time estimates for those branches that were directly estimated. The estimates shown at the nodes of the two major divisions are averages from the component branches. CVC18 was the South American outgroup.
