Relative expression was analyzed in the E. multilocularis metacestode stage for metacestode vesicles cultured in vitro metacestode tissue obtained from experimentally infected mice (n = 4 for both). q-RT-PCRs were performed in technical duplicates for each sample and gene expression was calculated relative to the housekeeping gene emelp. Two independent experiments were performed to analyze gene expression in vitro and one experiment was performed to analyze gene expression ex vivo. The protein abundances given as iBAQ values were determined in tissue from in vitro cultured metacestode vesicles as previously published (see Müller et al. (2023) for the complete dataset).
