Cellular organization of the pulvinus. The image in A was taken of a hand cross section on an upright microscope (Zeiss, Thornwood, NJ) equipped with a CCD camera (Hamamatsu, Bridgewater, NJ) and the Image 1 software system (Universal Imaging, West Chester, PA), whereas the images shown in B and C were taken of longitudinal hand sections using a dissecting microscope (Leica, Wetzlar, Germany) and a Hamamatsu color CCD camera.
