Poly-ICLC induces IFN-α/β in mice. IFN was measured in BALB/c mice treated with poly-ICLC. (A) Mice were treated either intranasally or intramuscularly with 80 μg of poly-ICLC, and IFN-α/β bioactivity was measured in BAL, lung, and serum by a standard microtiter plaque reduction assay. Dose response: increasing doses of poly-ICLC were instilled intranasally in mice. IFN-α/β bioactivity was detected in (B) lung tissue and (C) BAL. (D) IFN-α concentration was measured by ELISA at different time points in BAL fluid of mice treated intranasally with 10 μg of poly-ICLC.
