Growth curve of ΔpckA in AB minimal medium. Log-phase cultures of C58, C58 with constitutive virG, ΔpckA, and ΔpckA with constitutive virG were diluted in AB minimal medium (top, pH 7.0; bottom, pH 5.5) with a starting OD₆₀₀ calculated to be 0.001. The cells were grown at 28°C with shaking. The OD₆₀₀ was measured at 2-h intervals over a 36-h period.
