Day 0 was the day of first immunization for all groups. Groups A1 and B1 were immunized with EHEC ghosts, and groups C1 and D1 were given a placebo immunization with PBS. Day 28 was the day of second immunization for groups B1 (EHEC ghosts) and D1 (PBS). Day 55 was the day of challenge.
