PICO Table.

Population This study focuses on interventions targeting caregivers of older adults who are 65 years of age and older. As many systematic reviews on caregiver interventions include studies based on care recipients’ diagnoses instead of age, this study also includes reviews focused exclusively on age-related diagnoses. Age-related conditions included heart failure, Alzheimer’s or other related dementias, or chronic kidney disease.
Intervention This study included reviews that exclusively evaluated the effects of interventions designed for caregivers of older adults and assessed via randomized control trials (RCTs).
Comparator Comparators in the RCTs included control, control-waitlist, and usual care groups.
Outcomes Studies measuring caregiver outcomes of caregiver depression, burden, and quality of life were eligible for inclusion in this review.
