HRPE cells expressing cysteine-substituted mutants were preincubated for 10 min with 1 mm MTSET in sodium buffer or with sodium buffer alone (control). The preincubation solutions were washed away, and the remaining uptake activity of [3H]succinate was measured. Uptake activities in cells pretreated with MTSET are expressed as a percentage of the uptakes in controls pretreated with sodium buffer alone.
