Wild-type BC7 or mutants of Cbl pili or the 22-kDa adhesin were metabolically labeled with [35S]Cys-Met and incubated with blots of isolated CK13 for 1 h. Blots were washed to remove unbound bacteria, and bound bacteria were detected by autoradiography and semiquantitated by densitometry. Binding of wild-type BC7 to CK13 was considered to be 100%. The values represent the means of three independent experiments, and the range of experimental values is given in the parentheses.
