The numbers represent the average and standard deviation (SD) from five independent experiments of duplicates or triplicates (n = 10 to 15). For calculation of percent reduction, wild-type BC7 binding to and transmigration across squamous epithelial cell cultures was considered 100%, which was 7.8 × 103 ± 9.0 × 102 and 6.7 × 102 ± 8.5 × 101, respectively. The P values were derived from percentages using ANOVA by modeling the natural log transformation based on two factors: the infection type and the experimental variations. *P < 0.001.
