Amplitudes are shown in fractional increase in fluorescence intensity over background, rise times and half widths are shown in msec, and values indicate means and standard deviations. Sample sizes (n) indicate number of preparations. Arrows indicate direction of change relative to the prior developmental stage. Single asterisks indicate statistically significant changes relative to the prior developmental stage, and double asterisks represent statistically significant changes relative to the next earlier developmental stage (for example d11 relative to d9). Both * and ** indicate p < 0.01 (Kruskal-Wallis test of independent samples with Bonferroni correction for multiple tests). Aside from a dip in rise time at d8 in the lateral ROI which is not seen in the medial ROI, all changes are consistent in the two ROIs.
