Activation of NADPH oxidase in the presence of iNOS expression leads to 3-nitrotyrosine immunoreactivity in neurons and glia. Neuronal-glial cultures treated with LPS/IFN-γ/PMA for 48 hours showed extensive immunoreactivity for 3-nitrotyrosine, which was absent in the presence of FeTPPS.
