FAU of α-amylase per gram (dry weight) ± 95% confidence interval. One FAU is the amount of α-amylase which at 37°C hydrolyzes 5.26 g of starch h−1. Dry weight was determined in grams per kilogram of medium by drying biomass samples filtered on Whatman GF/C filter paper for 24 to 48 h at 105°C.
