Relative luciferase activity in tissue extracts from a transgenic mouse line in which the gene for firefly luciferase had been inserted under the control of the human CYP27B1 promoter. It is evident that the CYP27B1 activity is expressed in a range of tissues. Notably the small intestine, a major target organ for 1,25(OH)2D, does not demonstrate CYP27B1 promoter activity.
