Table II.
Average rate of nucleotide substitutions per 100 sites among four Pm3 alleles (Pm3a, Pm3b, Pm3d, and Pm3f)
The coding sequences for the CC-NBS (nucleotides 1–1,710), LRR (nucleotides 1,711–4,245), structural LRR residues (2,115 nucleotides), and predicted solvent-exposed LRR residues (420 nucleotides coding for 140 X residues in the XX(L)X(L)XX motif) were analyzed separately.
| Rate | Complete Gene | CC-NBS | LRR | Structural LRR Residues | Predicted Solvent-Exposed LRR Residuesa |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ka | 1.5 | 2.1 | 1.3 | 0.7 | 4.1 |
| Ks | 2.4 | 4.8 | 1.2 | 1.3 | 1.2 |
| Ka/Ks | 0.6 | 0.4 | 1.2 | 0.5 | 3.4 |
Significant differences at P = 0.02 were found between synonymous and nonsynonymous changes.
