Expression of mRNA for various cytokines after stimulation with LLO. Whole spleen cells, CD11b− cells, and CD11b+ cells were stimulated with 50 nM cholesterol-pretreated LLO for 6 h. Total RNA was extracted and subjected to RT-PCR for detection of cytokine mRNA for IFN-γ, IL-1α, IL-6, IL-12 p35, IL-12 p40, IL-18, TNF-α, and β-actin.
