Effect of butyric acid on cell proliferation and apoptosis. (A) Cellular proliferation was determined by an MTT assay and is expressed as the percentage of the control absorbance, obtained in the absence of butyric acid. (B) The DNA fragmentation assay was performed by DPA assay of harvested cells. The results are expressed as the means ± SEMs (error bars) of three different experiments with triplicate cultures.
