(a) For sensitization mice received killed P. acnes (6.25, 12.5, or 25 μg/g) administered i.v. or remained untreated (controls). One week later groups of 5 to 10 animals were challenge with 1 μg of LPS i.v., and the level of TNF-α in plasma collected 1 h after challenge was determined as described in Materials and Methods.
