The total number of cognate T cells determines the onset of Th1 responses. C57BL6 mice injected i.v. with the indicated number of OT-II CD4+ T cells were immunized in the hind footpad with ovalbumin (100 μg) and LPS (4 μg) in IFA. dLN CD4+ T cells were restimulated and assayed for IL-2 (A) and IFN-γ (B) secretion in the presence (filled bar) or absence (open bar) of OVA323–339 peptide.
